Outside Durability:

The Rusteaka Collection is made from teak wood. Teakwood has a naturally high oil content, which makes it both stable and resistant to rotting when exposed, over many years, to the extremes of both summer and winter weather. For several centuries, these special qualities have made teakwood the preferred choice for marine decking and construction. Teak wood today is considered the premium choice for outdoor furniture.

Stain: There is a stain applied to the outside of the teak wood. Over the stain is a Varathane sealer by Rustoleum. The Varathane® Diamond Spar Urethane Water-Based Finish provides maximum UV protection to guard your wood from the damaging effects of the sun.

Note: Even with the Varathane sealer, we recommend that this furniture be not exposed to the elements at all times. If it is exposed, the stain will eventually fade. The quickness of fading will depend upon the intensity of the outside elements. For best long term results to keep the furniture looking new, Global Surroundings suggests placing this furniture in a covered area out of direct contact with the elements.

This is a beautiful hand crafted teak bench. The attention to detail is simply amazing.

This entire bench is hand crafted by expert artisans in Java, Indonesia. Although it is new construction, the wood is roughly 60-80 years old. It is very sturdy and very durable.

This is an absolutely beautiful bench. Starting with the legs they have a chunky appearance at the bottom that connects with the seat in an almost Arts & Crafts design.

The actual bench has a hand hewn look to it. As you can see the bench also has slats of wood with small openings. This makes it ideal to leave outside and let moisture go through the slats.

The back is lightly painted and also carved. (Please note we have brought in many of these. Each one has the same dimensions but the back carvings vary and the paint coloring varies slightly depending upon the mood of the carver that day. You will not be buying this exact bench but it will be close to it.)

Because it is made of solid teak wood, it can also be left outside in the elements. This is a great bench under a verandah or out by a firepit. The bench is small enough to be placed in a front entrance of a home or of course indoors too.

The construction is very high quality and the wood is very substantial.

The wood is very distressed and old looking because well, it is.

This works well in a rustic cabin setting or even in a contemporary look.

It is extremely strong in construction using mortise and tenon joinery.
